When we produce customized pumps, it takes the time it takes. There are several processes involved in creating a pump. But if it runs for 70 years, what does a month of production time mean?
How long time does it tale to produce a Lykkegaard pump?

Well, first it must be designed according to measurements, which either the customer or we take and make our calculations according to. In this case we have produced the pump's predecessor, but we cannot use the same drawings.
They are 70 years old, and a lot has changed. The soil and water conditions on site have changed - and in the meantime we have also become better at producing very precise propellers that utilize energy better and we can therefore make the pump move more water - or use less electricity, when it is dimensioned correctly.
So, to design the optimal pump for the current situation, we need to know how much water the pump will have to move and how high the water is to be lifted. We use these numbers to calculate and design the pump, and in particular the propeller. The raw components are then manufactured and machined so that they are exactly as they should be. When all parts are ready, they are sent to a painter to be given Lykkegaard's characteristic black color - a strong paint also protects the components to a certain extent against wear and corrosion.
Finally, all the parts are assembled into a finished pump, which is tested at our own test facility before the pump is shipped or delivered and installed at the customer's place.
It takes longer and costs more than if we had mass-produced standard pumps. In return, our customers get pumps that suit their needs and that are built to last for several generations.
This specific pump is going to Sillerslev at the Danish island of Mors, where it will replace the last of the three pumps that the pump guild had delivered 70 years ago.
